LANCER EVOLUTION GENERASI BARU

TOKYO - Bagi penggemar Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, siap-siap saja menemui kejutan baru pada generasi teranyar mobil sport ini. Sebab, Evo XI kabarnya akan dibekali mesin hybrid.


Bila selama ini sistem turbocharged, penggerak roda all-wheel-drive serta twin clutch mampu melonjakkan tenaga Lancer Evolution hingga 300 hp, maka seperti dikutip Motorauthority, Senin (18/1/2010), Evo XI akan disokong oleh mesin hybrid.

Mitsubishi rencananya bakal mencangkokkan sistem hybrid pada penggerak AWD Evo. "Sistem ini dapat mengirimkan tenaga sebesar 63 hp dari sebuah motor listrik melalui roda depan saja, sementara tenaga sebesar 320 hp turbocharged empat silinder akan menggerakkan roda belakang," tulis situs tersebut.

Dan bila bekerja secara simultan, motor listrik dan meisn konvensional tersebut sanggup memproduksi 350 tenaga kuda yang sangat cukup untuk melakukan akselerasi 0-100 km/jam dalam waktu 4,5 detik saja. "Waktu tersebut sekira 4/10 lebih cepat dibandingkan mobil biasa," sebut Motorauthority.

Penggunaan motor listrik itu juga bisa menggerakkan Evo untuk jarak pendek. Dan motor listrik juga bisa membantu akselerasi pada putaran meisn rendah. Sistem tersebut juga digunakan pada Lexus GS dan LS.

Selain motor listrik, Mitsubishi juga kabarnya memberikan dua teknologi tinggi tambahan yakni active steering dan roll control suspension. Kedua fitur tersebut dimaksudkan untuk membuat Evo lebih mantap menapak di aspal dan lebih gesit.

Belum ada keterangan resmi dari pihak Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) perihal Evo hybrid ini. Namun generasi Evo XI rencananya akan mulai diproduksi pada 2013.

Although little is known about the new concept, it will feature an aggressive exterior thanks to the adoption of the Lancer Evo X's signature "Jet Fighter" grille. Painted in a premium white diamond hue, the Outlander GT Prototype also comes with Lancer-inspired headlights, massive wheels, and what appears to be a lowered "sports" suspension.

On the technical side, the Outlander GT concept boasts several new technologies including a transmission equipped with Idle Neutral Logic. The system automatically shifts the transmission into neutral when the vehicle is at a standstill, which results in improved fuel efficiency.

Power is provided to all four wheels by a retuned version of the company's 3.0-liter SOHC MIVEC V6 engine which will offer "improved performance." The engine produces 220 horsepower and 204 lb-ft of torque in the Outlander XLS, so expect a slight improvement in those numbers when detailed information on the GT is released.

Mitsubishi Confirms To Wear Peugeot Badge in Europe

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. today confirmed that it will provide electric car technology to French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen starting in late 2010 or early 2011. The two companies will produce a vehicle based upon Mitsubishi's iMiEV vehicle that will be marketed under the Peugeot brand.

Mitsubishi described its agreement with Peugeot as a memorandum of understanding that is "consistent with its worldwide electric vehicle strategy."

Mitsubishi's iMiEV technology currently is being tested in Japan -- where it is scheduled to debut this summer -- as well as in the U.S., Europe and New Zealand.

Today's announcement confirmed media reports about an electric car technology collaboration that surfaced last summer shortly after Mitsubishi became a minority partner in Peugeot's new $465 million plant in Russia.

Mitsubishi still plans to market its own line of electric vehicles in Europe. The Peugeot deal "would be mutually beneficial since the collaboration of MMC and PSA Peugeot Citroen will ease and accelerate the introduction of their electric vehicles in the European market," according to a statement on Mitsubishi's Web site.

Mitsubishi plans to introduce electric cars in Japan this summer. Closer to home, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric have been testing the zero-emissions four-passenger electric vehicle.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2009

Mitsubishi will introduce its latest Pajero Sport SUV next month at the annual Moscow International Auto Salon. The new Mitsu bruiser, known on the South side of the Americas as the Mitsubishi Montero, will feature 2- or 3-row seating along with water-repellent seats and a waterproof luggage compartment floor. They're features Mitsubishi claims to be "ideal for leisure use." We suppose that depends upon your idea of leisure. Two diesels along with a gas V6 will power the Pajero Sport, which, coupled with its Russian introduction, should tell you it's not coming here. Following a teaser press release earlier in July (see here), Mitsubishi has released further details and additional images on the all-new Pajero Sport SUV that will be publicly unveiled at the Moscow Auto Salon 2008 to be held at the Crocus Expo in Moscow between August 26 and September 7. The 2009 Pajero Sport will be sold in Russia, Australia, South America, Middle East and selected Asian markets but not in North America or Western Europe. Sales are expected to begin this fall.

2009 Mitsubishi Pajero SportThe new Pajero Sport (also called Montero Sport or Challenger, depending on the market) is based on a new ladder-frame. Mitsubishi says that bending and torsional rigidity in the new frame are 100% and 50% (respectively) higher than before thus improving the vehicle's reliability in off-road use as well as improving handling and ride comfort. The new Pajero Sport SUV is also larger than its predecessor with an overall length of 4695 mm (compared with 4620 mm for the old model); overall width of 1815 mm (1775 mm); overall height of 1800 mm (1730 mm); and wheelbase of 2800 mm (2725 mm). -Continued

Power will be supplied by a choice of three engines including 2.5-liter and 3.2-liter turbodiesels and a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline unit. In Russia, the Pajero Sport will be offered exclusively with the 3.2-liter common rail diesel engine that produces an output of 163 HP at 3,500 rpm and 343 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Transmission choices include a 4-speed Sport Mode automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The large SUV uses Mitsubishi Motors' All Wheel Control-inspired Super Select 4WD driveline which feeds maximum drive torque to the wheels with the most grip. The Pajero Sport will also be available with an optional rear differential lock that eliminates the speed differential between the rear wheels to help the driver extract his vehicle in sticky situations.

Depoending on the market, the Pajero Sport SUV will be available in either a 2-row (5-passenger) or 3-row (7-passenger) seating configuration both of which feature water-repellent seats and a waterproof luggage compartment floor. Adding to its versatility, the front seatbacks can recline fully to provide a flat surface together with the rear seats. The rear seats also boast a 150 mm slide travel, allowing various configurations for occupant and luggage spaces.
